'CZ is currently facing serious challenges with too many and still growing Sika deer and wildboar populations.' That was a statement of Martin Žižka, Vice-Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture (CZ), during the Židlochovice Talks in September 2015.
Sika populations are out of balance with way too many female animals. Wild Boar and the approaching African Swine Fever are a threat and risk that is spreading from Belarus and Poland.
With a new hunting policy, the government would like to intensify the hunting and wildlife management.
Hunting plans and quota (and their approval) are envisaged to become less formal and requiring less bureaucracie. On the other hand, the control of the plans especially with Sika, should be more strict.
Land managers and land owners shall have the right to get involved in hunting directly.
