About 1,200 fires have burned across the province this year, compared to 800 at this time last year. As of Tuesday, there were 92 fires burning in Alberta, 12 of which were listed as out of control. Nearly 300 fire fighters from Australia, Mexico, New Zealand and the United States have been brought in from out of Alberta to assist the 1,100 local fire fighters. Given the severity of such fire years the possibility to exchange of well trained personnel is crucial to cope with such large scale disturbances.
