Verena Quadt (EFICENT) traveled to Slovenia on 11‐14 March together with Christoph Hartebrodt from the German Forest Research Institute of Baden‐Württemberg (FVA).

A disastrous ice storm hit Slovenia in early February, causing severe damages to infrastructure and forests in the country. Christoph Hartebrodt (FVA) was invited by his Slovenian counterparts from the Slovenian Forest Institute (SFI) to provide his expertise as a risk and crisis expert. Verena Quadt (EFICENT) presented the FRISK‐GO project and discussed the future Forest Risk Facility as well as the tasks of the planned Liaison Units. During a field trip to the most affected areas in the region and a lecture at SFI, important issues were discussed and further cooperation developed.

The trip was an excellent showcase that helped identify how expert exchange and capacity building could be managed within a future Risk Facility. It was also a good possibility to promote the idea of the facility and tighten the links between the 3 forest institutes.
